Pencaitland Parish Church - May 2005

Pencaitland Parish Church
  • Acrylics on paper
  • 11″x8″

This is my third painting. It is the church in my village. I painted it from the photo I took last autumn when I went for a walk with my husband. It took me about a month to finish. By the time i finished I realised that the trees at the back of the church do not look as good as the trees/shrubs at the front. But I could not do anything about it. Maybe next painting I will try to do better.

Hi, I would encourage you to paint the Temple of Emerald Buddha. Do you want to try? I think it is a big challege if you can do? Jana’s dad

I am not sure if I can do that but if you could take a photo of the temple for me that would be great.

Hi Aum, I wonder how could you paint that picture. It’s very nice. How big it is? Anyway, did you paint it by yourself? Lha.

The picture is about 11″x8″ and I did it myself. :)

HI Very impressive!! Do you think it would make a god tapestry? The oldies

My birthday is coming soon. I wish you will paint one for me. Ha…ha P’Nui

I have this comment from http://artcritiquegallery.com I would like to share here… Anavah said Your ‘third ever painting in life’ shows wonderful potential…especically regarding the perspective aspect. The deep foreground is my favorite part - it provides intrique and mystery. You’ve done an excellent job on the grass and the shards of light cutting the shadows on it in the background. This would SEEM to indicate a contradiction regarding lighting/shadows of the central bush; however, does not due to the height of the bush far left casting the haze of shadow. You’ve really got an eye for that…uniform dark/light…that will play to your advantage in the most simplist of compositions. The trees in the background disappoint me somewhat after the structure of the bushes in the foreground, espeically the one far viewer’s right. Seems to be underdone a tad in comparison. I think you did a good job architecturally depicting the church which will only improve the more you paint. Perused your blog and enjoyed it. My ancestors migrated to and then from the Isle of Skye in the 1700’s. Look forward to seeing more of your paintings. ~ Well! ~
