4 months updated…

It has been such a long time since my last post. I have no excuse about not updating my blog other than I was very busy. After I finished CookingWithBooze, I was asked to quote for another project which we did through my husband’s company. I will not mention too much about this project here. It is a website for a network company in Toronto named Arcturus Networks Inc. You can visit their website to see my latest work.

Last month Pepper was not well and had bad diarrhoea, we had to take him to the vet because I saw what I thought it was a drop of blood coming out. We had to give him bland diet with some pro-biotic. I tried to play with him in the football field and made sure that he won’t eat strange things in the woods that would upset his stomach again. One day we took him out to play, it was Sunday and it rained heavily the night before. The football field was full of puddles. We walked pass the car park next to the football field and there was no car. I had silly idea to play with Pepper in the car park, just because I did not want him to go to drink from the puddles in the football field. Since the car park is not too big when Pepper ran with his full speed, he needed to brake hard in order to stop himself before hitting the wall. The result of my silly idea and my dog’s daftness cost my husband some money that day. When we came back to the house, I cleaned his paws as usual and found out that 3 of his paws pad were torn. HG called the vet and she asked us to bring Pepper in for examine and she thought they needed to be cut out otherwise if it ripped off itself it could cause a lot of bleeding. We had to keep him quiet for 2-3 weeks until the wounds heal properly. We had to clean his paws with salt and warm water for at least 3 times a day.

Pepper with the socks on

It was so hard on me the first day when I saw him walking in pain because it was my fault. HG bought him some baby socks to wear when walking outside the house. They were very cute but Pepper only need to wear them for a couple of days because his paws healed very quickly. I started taking him out to the woods on the third days because he refused to do his business in the garden. He did not do #2 for almost 2 days and refused to drink because he did not want to pee. I thought that was silly so I took him to the woods with 2 layers of socks each paw. He did all his business straight away once we were in the woods. I cleaned his paw thoroughly to make sure that they would not get any infection. Last Thursday we took him to the vet again for the check up and she said the wounds healed perfectly and I could start walking him the next day. We also weigh him and found out that for almost 2 weeks with no walk, Pepper lost 0.7kg. He was 26.4 when we took him to see the vet for his diarrhoea and he was 25.7 that day.

My first garlic of the year

I harvested all my garlic on July 14, 2007. I have 118 heads of garlic in total this year. They are some big ones, some pathetic ones but most of them are average ones. I gave some to my neighbours.

Last Tuesday my neighbour, Alistair and May, needed to go to the funeral and I offered to take care of their puppy, Kyle. Kyle is about 4 months old brown Border collie. He is quite a timid dog. Pepper was such a good boy that day. I had them both in the dinning room with me. I brought Pepper’s toy box through and Kyle went to get all the toys out to play and Pepper did not bother about that. I noticed that Kyle likes to play with all soft toys; it was because he is teething at the moment. At first I thought Pepper would be possessive about his toys but he did not. Kyle was a bit strange that he barked with no reason but someone said dogs can hear things we don’t. He wagged his tail and barked at his own tail. It was so funny. He tried to bite Pepper tail too because Pepper wagged his tail to hit Kyle in the face.

They both did not really sleep all day. I took Kyle to the woods to pee 4-5 times. When HG came home I took Kyle back to his house and he went to his mattress and slept immediately. I left him in the house for an hour, when I thought it was his dinner time, I went back to feed him. Alistair told me he gave Kyle scramble egg in the morning with his kibbles so I came back home with his food bowl to make scramble egg for him and Pepper. Then I took it back to his house and fed him. After he ate, I took him back to our house because after the puppy ate, it would need the toilet soon. It was fun having Kyle for a day but it was a hard work.
