Last weekend updated…

On Friday we went to Alva for my haircut. Since I wanted to stop at the art shop in Tillicoultry, I drove from home and stopped at maybe 2/3 of the way and let HG drive. It was very narrow road to Tillicoultry and there were roadworks at one point where we had to stop and wait for the convoy vehicle to lead us through the traffic. This was the first time for me and HG following a convoy vehicle. It was quite a boring job for the convoy vehicle’s driver. I bought some more paints and brushes as usual. In the afternoon we, Dad, HG and me, were out for a little walk. I wanted to walk up to Alva Glen again. We were there before in March 2004 and I had never been there in summer. It was raining when we were almost at the foot of the glen. I had a problem with the hood of my waterproof jacket, so HG and dad had to stop and help me sort it out. We stopped behind the Baptist church, I held the umbrella, HG and dad helped me with the jacket. It looked weird for the people who drove past us.

At dinner, dad made roasted chicken drumsticks with honey and roasted new potatoes with garlic, rosemary, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It was very nice. He could have made more potatoes.

At night when we were watching the television, I talked about one of my friend, Manote, he told me that his son is now be able to walk. It was quite fast for him. I told them that I learned to talk before I could walk. Mum said that does not surprise her. Everyone laughed and said that it was the best comment from mum. I told her that she was a bad mother-in-law because she meant that I talked too much. Humph!!! It was very funny though to hear something like this from her. I did not know that she could tease. I have to be careful next time.

It was sunny and warm on Saturday. Mum and Dad took us out for lunch at a restaurant in Thornhill. It was called “Lion and Unicorn”. It was very nice meal. I drove on the way back so they all could drink. HG asked me twice before he ordered beer. I felt good to be able to drive and let them enjoy their drinks. I finally had a use.

It was still sunny and warm when we came back so mum decided to sit outside with her summer top on. I decided to go for a walk to Alva glen again. It was very nice up in the glen. There were quite a lot of people there.

On Sunday, we left Alva about 11:00 am to DogTrust in West Caldar to see the puppies. We were there at 11:45 am, we thought we were too early but there were about 20 people before us. There were only 5 puppies so we could not get any. We went out to see Pippin again. He was in a new cage with a new inmate. This one was a female dog, 1 1/2 years old named Cagney. She barked all the time we could not get too close to see Pippin. I told one of the staff who happened to be around that I could not see Pippin and asked her if she could calm Cagney. She went into the cage and calmed Cagney. Pippin was so sweet with her. He climbed up to her and licked her face. She said he is a sweet boy once he knew you. We were not there for a long time because it was too busy and we were a bit hungry and needed to go shopping for food. We were thinking about Pippin and thought about taking him. We planned to go there again on Monday after my appointment at the hospital about my Thyroid scan. We had barbeque when we came home. HG had lamb kebabs and I had barbeque pork ribs. After that I took the bone to Taggie. She loved it. While I was at Charlotte’s house, I helped her fix her PC scanner problem (reinstalled driver), installed Google bar for Graeme and changed the schedule time for their virus scan.

HG took me to the hospital for having a Thyroid scan on Monday. My appointment was at 12:00 but it was about 12:30 when I was called. The doctor told me that the size of my thyroid glands were normal but the echo patterns were rough. He said it was supposed to be smooth but maybe it was inflamed before. I found out that the doctor I had been seen about the thyroid issue wrote in my profile wrongly. She reported that I had fatigue, lost appetite and lost weight. I have never told her that I lost appetite and lost my weight at all. Actually I gained 4 kg since I have been here. For fatigue, I probably told her that if I had problem with my heart beat so fast I would be tired after that. I told the doctor who scanned my thyroid about this. But I will have to go back to see my doctor on September 5th for the result of this scan which will be a new doctor because the doctor I had seen had left last month. So I will have to tell my new doctor that the report was not 100% correct.

After the hospital, we went to DogTrust again to have a good look at Pippin. This time one of the staff took Cagney away and left Pippin alone in the cage. He was strange. He did not look at as at all. He was looking at the staff who were wondering around taking some dogs out walking. When there was no staff in his sight, he was looking at the play area where there were a few dogs there. We tried to call him to get attention from him but he did not seem to know his name. When we went back to the reception area and one of the staff went through Pippin’s profile again for us. We found out that he actually bit a boy in the past but it was because he had not been taught that it was a bad thing and that was why he ended up here. He said if we took Pippin we need to train him properly which I was not sure if I could do that even though I had experience with Woody before. I thought if he at least showed me that he was interested in us, I would have take him but he acted like we did not exist. So we thought we would go for the breeder and get a puppy and start from scratch.

After that we went to buy some seafood. This time we got mussels, prawns and smoked haddock. We barbequed prawns and steamed mussels like what my dad used to cook for me and ate them with Thai seafood sauce. It was brilliant. We could not finish the mussels, so I will make mussels with creamy sauce for the starter and smoked haddock pie for main course tonight.

Pippin doesn’t seem to be a good choice - better to wait I think. Had rest of giant courgette - with braised gammon and apple in cider - very nice - with new potatoes - bought!!

Hi Aum, Thanks for writing about me in your blog. By the way, I feel hungry everytime you mentioned about food.

Just stop by to say Hi!. You are still busy with cooking hah. About your heart beat, it might be the sign of menopause 555. Hope you will get your dog soon.
