Poor Pepper…

Poor Pepper

Yesterday morning at around 6 am HG woke me up because Pepper threw up in his crate. HG got dressed and took him out to the wood. I cleaned the crate and washed his towel. HG said Pepper’s stool was quite liquid. I said it was quite soft on Thursday as well. Pepper refused to eat his breakfast but he drank a lot of water. When we had our breakfast I brought his bowl to the dining room and he ate them all. We gave him only 2/3 of the quantity of the food we normally gave him. We told him if he could keep the food down we would feed him more. He seemed to be lively but not as lively as he normally does. Then we took him to the wood for a walk. He did his #2 which was hard to start with and ended up like diarrhea. It was worrying me. HG called the vet and we got the appointment at 5:50pm. At lunch time I tried to give him a little bit of his canned food because he seemed to be struggled with his kibbles/treats. It took him quite a while to finish his milky bone biscuit which we found it was strange. We thought his teeth might start bothering him but that could not explain about his diarrhea and vomit. I cooked some rice and mixed it with his canned food and gave it to him about 3:00pm. He did not throw up anymore since the morning but the diarrhea was still there. We took him to see the vet in the evening and the vet said his temperature was a little bit high which meant he probably got some viral infection in his stomach. He gave Pepper 2 injections and prescript one bottle of liquid medicine for his diarrhea. He also asked us to starve Pepper for 24 hours. Poor wee puppy! While HG was paying the money, I took Pepper out to pee. I gave him one milky bone biscuit and told him to keep it for tomorrow but he did not listen. He just ate them.

Pepper did not like the medicine at all. We had to use syringe and it was so difficult. He was so hungry but refused to drink any water. I had to try to make him drink because I afraid he would be dehydrated if he did not drink enough water.

Today we did not give him anything to eat yet. We gave him his medicine which he was not happy to take but he had no choice. I could not give him anything to eat because HG said he would be upset if I did. I cried a bit because I felt so sorry for Pepper but HG kept saying that we did this for Pepper’s own good. I gave Pepper a big hug before giving him the evil medicine. This time I managed to put some on HG, some on Pepper’s face, some in his eye and a little in his mouth. We had to clean his face and his eye but he seemed to be fine. He drank a little water after that and we put him to his crate to have some sleep.

I hate to say this, but the symptoms sure sound like parvo to me. My dog got this but she was big enough to shake it. She had to stay at the vet’s office for a couple of days. I hope Pepper does NOT have this and I hope he gets better soon.

I hope Pepper is a much better puppy today and that he feels all better. With a full tummy.

Your dog is pretty.
