Seafood…

On Saturday we went to Musselburgh to buy seafood. My new friend, Jamie, told me there is a good fishmonger in Musselburgh who has a Thai wife. The shop is full of choices, clean and good presentation. The man who was behind the counter asked me where I came from. I said I came from Thailand. He said “Sawasdee krub” to me and point to the woman who was in the corner. She looks very much like Thai. She did not speak to me, just smiled and did her job. I asked that man later how long she’s been here. He said that woman is his granddaughter. (Ohmigod!. I thought she was his wife. He did not look that old.) He said his daughter-in-law and her husband are now in Thailand and will be in the shop next week. We bought quite a lot that day, 8 big tiger prawns, 8 king scallops, 2 big pieces of tuna steak and 2 huge fillets of non-dye smoked Haddock. After we paid the money, he told me again that his daughter-in-law will be in the shop next week if I would like to see her. I then asked with grin “Do you think she will give me some discount?” He laughed and said “Maybe”. HG said I was very cheeky.
We had grilled prawns and fried scallops with butter and garlic for lunch. I made Thai seafood dipping sauce to go with them. HG loves these tiger prawns. I ate all the edible bits of the prawns.
In the evening, HG made Kedgeree using the smoked haddock. It was his best ever Kedgeree.
On Sunday, we went to Alva again. The oldies will be home next Thursday, so we thought we should return mum’s car. HG drove mum’s car and I drove our car. I followed HG all the way to Alva. We did not do much in the garden this time because it was quite wet. I did tidy up a bit in the front. We packed our lunch which was leftover Kedgeree.
After lunch we went to buy new shower head for the spare bathroom at HomeBase in Stirling and then we went to DogTrust in West Calder again. This time there were some puppies but they had already booked. So we went around to see Scamp and Smudge again. This time Scamp barked at me and showed his real behavior. I did not play with him for so long. We went around and found a new actor. His name is Pippin. He was a black Labrador crossed, 7 months old. He was in the cage with another female puppy which was bigger than him and a bit bully. She tried to bite his ear, Pippin tried to fight back but in a gentle way because he’s a gentledog. He was a bit nervous. We went back to the reception and asked the staff about Pippin. She said he was taken from here as a puppy but the owner did not train him properly and he recently kind of grabs kid’s hand with his mouth. So they returned him to DogTrust. She said it was not his fault because they did not train him well. So, she thought we should not take Pippin since HG has no experience with dog before. HG told her that he just had 2 weeks experience with Taggie but obviously she did not count. She also told me there will be new puppies again on August 21, 2005 and this time there will be Labradors crossed puppies but she did not know how many. So we will go back again on that day. HG said if we have to fight to get the puppy, we will go to the breeder. I will keep my fingers crossed.
