Strawberry Granita…

Today is the third day this year that I could wear t-shirt and shorts in this country. I made Strawberry Granita and Pineapple Granita. From Dictionary.com, Granita means a granular dessert ice with sugar-syrup base, usually flavored with fruit puree, coffee or wine. I got this recipe from Delia Smith. I watched her summer collection program on UKTV Food.

Strawberry Granita

  • 1 lb strawberries
  • 6 oz sugar
  • 1 pint water
  • 2 tbsp lime juice

Put strawberries in the food processor and blend them. Add sugar and blend again. Add water and lime juice and blend again. Pour it into the polythene freezer box and put into the freezer. Set the time for 2 hours, by that time the mixture should be frozen around the side and the base. Use the fork to mix the frozen bit with the unfrozen bit and return to the freezer again. Check and fork every hour until the mixture become completely frozen ice crystals.

I have been making this Granita for 3 consecutive weeks. HG loves it so much. We had it every night while we was watching television. I had a small bowl, HG had a big bowl. Such a greedy boy!!.

I found a lot of feathers in the garden today, I suspected there was a sparrow hawk came to eat sparrow in our garden. This evening, I saw one sitting on the fence looking down to my spirea bush. I ran upstairs to get my camera. I was not fast enough. It went to the other fence and chased one of the sparrow and gone. Poor wee sparrow.
