Time for dinner…

There is quite a gap between my last post and this post. During this gap HG kept drinking champagne (Taittinger PréLude Grands Crus), glass after glass. I think he probably consumed about 2 bottles in total. He also said their white wine was very nice after doing a lot of research. :P

I started looking at their menu to decide what I would like to have for dinner. At first I decided to have Roast onion soup with Cornish Yarg cheese croutons for the starter but when the cabin crew came to get the order, he asked me if I would like to have something else as well. So I settled with another starter which was Fresh salad leaves with roast garlic and tarragon dressing. It was the best salad I ever had on the plane. The dressing was fantastic. The onion soup was a bit too thick and too salty for me, so HG finished it for me. By the time before the main course, I started to get a bit full but I ordered Beef fillet with cep reduction, Anna potatoes and green beans — very well done. I ordered this because green bean is Pepper’s favorite vegetable and I missed him dearly.

It took me quite a while to finish my main course. I was totally stuffed but when the cabin crew asked if I wanted any dessert. I said I would like Shaun Hill’s rhubarb tart with ginger sauce and vanilla ice cream. Can’t you believe that? Haha. I could not finish it but I knew someone who would help me. After I finished my dessert, I asked the cabin crew for pajama. I saw someone else got them but I didn’t. I went to brush my teeth and changed to First pajama. When I came back, my seat was nicely turned into a flat bed with a mattress, duvet and a pillow. Wow, that was great. By that time, my sweet and lovely husband also finished his dinner and had ordered a glass of brandy. He was very drunk. He went to the toilet to get change and that’s how I saw a cabin crew prepared his bed for him. When he returned, he complained that he felt so hot. I was not surprised from the amount of alcohol he consumed in the last 5 hours. He went to sleep very quickly and did not really drink his brandy. The smell of his brandy was so strong and I did not like it. I asked one of the cabin crew to take it away. I finished a film and went to sleep.

I woke up in the morning (about 7am UK time) and felt very hungry. I went to the toilet to get change. My husband did not feel very well, he had a typical hangover. I used to tell him that I don’t like him to drink a lot, but I don’t want to stop him from drinking because I knew he likes it. But if he does not know his limit and gets sick because of it, there will be no sympathy from me whatsoever.

One cabin crew came to do my bed and asked me what I would like to have for breakfast. I told her I would like to have English breakfast. She looked a bit surprise. After my breakfast, we were about to land in Hong Kong. It was about 5pm local time. It took a while for the immigration and we had the limousine booked to the hotel. It took about 30 - 40 minutes from the airport to the hotel. HG was getting better but not for long. You will have to come back later to check how he was after we reached the hotel.

One Response to “Time for dinner…”

Actually it was not a typical hangover. It was FIRST CLASS hangover!!! For the connoisseurs in the audience the white wine was a rather excellent Pouilly-Fumé Cuvée Marjoram 2000. It was enjoyed with Mark Edwards’ foie gras and duck confit with plum wine jelly and brioche croutons. This was followed by the above mentioned Beef fillet (cooked à point of course) and accompanied by a Saint-Julien (Château Léoville-Poyferré 1995). And the cognac was a Camus XO.
