Black Pepper - December 2007

Visit Black Pepper

In October 2007, Pepper had a complaint from Sophie, HG’s niece, that his website was very disappointed because I did not update the website for a long time. So Pepper made his promise to his fan club that he will hire me to redesign his website and asked them to come back to check it within 1-2 months. The main reason that I did not update his website as often was because it was not that easy to do. So I decided to upgrade Pepper’s website to use WordPress. Pepper also wants to have photo albums where he can share his photos to his fans.

Designing Pepper’s website was quite straight forward. I spent most of the time create icons and clipart to represent things in his life, i.e. Frisbee, food bowls, biscuits, etc.

I found a good web application for maintaining photo albums, it’s called ZenPhoto. When I installed it on our development server, I could not get it to work because we didn’t enable JPEG support when we compile GDlib. Once it was sorted, it worked like a charm. I created my own theme for ZenPhoto to use Lytebox to overlay images on the current page. I created one wordpress plugin which allows me to insert a user defined number of latest thumbnails from Zenphoto gallery into Wordpress. The plugin also has another function to generate html to display images within the post by passing the filename.
